Vandalism

The site is still being spammed/vandalised on a regular basis. If you find any in your travels through the site please remove it. Thanks. --Hoju14:27, 9 Feb 2008 (EST)

Why should anybody be so destructive and erase the work of a group of poeple. For the public notice: I'll be coming back and restoring every piece of information given here. I want to thank those who contribute to such pages and would be more than glad to communicate regarding the matter of further development.--EduGuy 23:45, 8 Jun 2006 (EST)

You work for EssayWriters.net, an essay mill. You are the lowest of the low. You even posted a link to your scummy site:

Domain name suggestions

How about educationalinux.org.au???

Sounds very appropriate.

  • Presumably this comment was from before openeducation.org.au was chosen. I think openeducation.org.au is a great domain name, nice choice! Tpercival 20:18, 27 Apr 2005 (EST)
  • Indeed...Geoffrey Robertson just turned the wiki on under his own 3LD during the conference.

Page heading

I know it's a pain having the top level text hard coded as Main Page, but having a second top level heading for "Open Education Wiki" makes the TOC look odd — everything is 1.x.

Thus I present a diff which I hope will allow us to painlessly rename "Main Page". It'd probably be easiest to open the file in the text editor of your choice and modify it that way. Anyway, here it is. I haven't tested this, so it might break something... but would be easy to revert.

Nice suggestion and a useful hack. However, one suggestion is to migrate the whole front end of the site to a cms such as plone, and then link back to the wiki somewhere. Stuff can get a little lost in a wiki. This is just a place holder. What are your thoughts?

I tried editing mediawiki-1.4.2/languages/Language.php as suggested but nothing changed---weird. So I've worked around it by moving the "Main Page" content to "Open Education Wiki" and redirecting. It's a kluge dude, but my grep was overheating. --Geoffrey 16:55, 1 May 2005 (EST)

LCA2006 Having Education As A Theme

Jon maddog Hall has started an interesting discussion on the Linux Australia mailing list about LCA2006 being an education themed conference! Linux Aus mailing list (http://lists.linux.org.au/archives/linux-aus/2005-July/msg00222.html)

It sounds good to me :-)

What do others think?

Put comments here but also send them to the Linux Aus mailing list so that the LCA2006 organisers can see them too.
